Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia

trouble

Hey, everyone i am new to the sight and have chronic fatigue syndrome. Ive done alot of different treatments for CFS and my doctor just wanted me to try effexor. He said i could give me more eneergy and help relieve the little bit of pain that i have. Has anyone here had any success with using Effexor for this? Are there any side effects with this drug? I have alot of trouble tolerating drugs, i usuallyt feel all the side effects.

I havent used efexor for chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia but i have used it for depression. I had some mild side effects when i first started it , but they went away after a couple weeks. I definately helped my depression and gave me more energy. I think it might be worth giving it a shot for you chronic fatigue. Let us know how its going

I've been on Effexor for about 6 years. I attempted to go off once, but went back on because I was having a lot of trouble with grumpiness (A LOT of trouble). So, basically, I take it to help deal with the anger I get when I'm exhausted (and this was definitely a big problem the first few years I had CFS).

For me, I don't think it has any effect on energy.

I just read some article about some people having trouble getting off of anti-depressants, especially effexor and paxil. It was on msn.com a couple days ago. i tried to find the link for you but it wasnt there anymore. It was talking about people getting really depressed or having weird side effects, like some electrical current type feeling in there body

I really never had any luck with anti depressants. Doctors aways want to perscribe them for chronic fatigue, but i always have really bad side effects and cant take them. But it is kind of scary taking a drug like this if you might get addicted to it or have a hard time stopping it

Hi There,

I had a rough time and was put on efflor, (sorry not sure how tospell it)
However going on them was tough... but I was in a right state. They really really helped and I was back to normal in a couple of months.

When I felt ok to come off them i actually opened three capsuals and worked out how many of the little white balls inside were equal to one mg. (1 mg) as one capsual is usally 75mg.

It came to three little white balls were 1mg.

So I used to open the capsuls and I came off them and one or two mg a day. If I went any higher to three I would get dizzy side effects. So it took a while but I came off them side effect free. If I ever did feel funny I would stay at that amount for a few days, then continue to reduce again.

I am not a doctor but I think the shock to the body of just trying to stop or take big leaps in going from 75mg to 35 mg can be too much and cause side effects.

I did check with my doctor and he was happy and said it was ok. It does say on the 'dont dos' on the info sheet with the tablets, dont open them. But I was fine, happy and came off them without any problem.

If you are on any type of anti depressant and want to come off them, check it out with you doctor for peace of mind, and ask him about openening up three capsuls and work out what the average is for one mg. Then reduce it slowly and every day or couple of days.
Please remember, I have no idea on say prozac or other anti depressants, so do your homework and come off them very slowly.
