I noticed this a long time ago but although I do feel as though I am starting an infection,( this usually begins with a phlegm producing cough) this is followed by sneezing bouts lasting less than 30 mins normally, I cannot swear that the body aches are attributed to the sequence as this may be the existing condition (m.e/cfs) but the whole process seems condensed into a 12hour activity and is completely gone the next day.As I always feel like I have flu it is hard to determine a separate entity.I find it difficult to imagine that my immune system is so efficient that it is dealing with the infection so dramatically but can offer no explanation why my symptoms are condensed into such a small timescale,Fortunately these only occur a few times a year. sorry for so much verbage I find articulation hard since I became ill.

>My other explanation for getting colds less is that most CFS people eat more healthy and drink less or no alcohol.

I can tell you this. When I was very young, my eating habits weren't good. Didn't make any difference. Most people diets are toxic because few are aware of what is in food. i was mostly immune to short term illnesses that people got around me. since i went to school sick every day, i had all sorts of opportunity to catch infections. children in general drink less alcohol.

I have read on many forums about CFS patients no longer getting colds after getting sick. It is very common. I got sick with CFS in September /09 and havent had a sniffle or cold since. I was able to keep working part time in a Medical Clinic for the next 10 months- fully exposed to sick patients. I have been around sick family members and friends also with no problems. Our immune system is constantly working overtime not helping with our debilating fatigue. I have now been bed ridden two months.

This morning, I wake up with a cold!!! I'm actually excited!!! Maybe, just maybe my immune system is coming out of it's coma! Probably just wishfull thinking but we can't stop being hopeful!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I am very grateful this year for all the support I've received and am fully aware that there are people out there who have it much worse than I do. So I consider myself lucky.

yes. the immune system is up regulated. the immune system seems to know that something is attacking
but can't quite figure out what and how to fight it.

LOL

well let's hope

the anecdotes I have heard was that two years is around the time frame where in rare cases a few people do get better even though not at complete 100%, they can work etc. one of the problems is lack of any real diagnosis test so maybe they didn't have cfids. i think the ciguatoxin test is the least expensive and best so far.

I used to get sick a lot when I was young. I had scarlet fever three years in a row. Followed by streptococcus numerous times a year until I got my tonsils removed and ever since my teeth have detereated but I rarely get sick. Recently I have had nose bleeds more often followed by fatigue for numerous years I'm an active and fit person I'm not a slob or a drug addict everyone around me gets sick including my kids. Any ideas if I'm looking in the right area?
