Anyone living by themselves?

Postby StarDust » Wed Jan 06, 2010 4:02 pm

There ya go...it had to happen one day. I'll have to leave home within the next months. I really don't know how I'm going to survive. If anyone lives alone can you please tell me how you do it?

I think getting disability for CFS in Canada is near impossible so I'm not relying on that at all. I don't think I can get a work with a schedule cause I never know how I'm going to feel each day. If anyone as some advice feel free to share it. thanks

Do you mean financially or otherwise? I live alone. Its not really easy, but i feel well enough right now to take care of myself.I just dont want too much responsibility.

Were you forced to move out?

Yea I meant financially mostly.

Well I can't say I'm being forced. It's a bit complicated, my parents are split, I live with my mother and her boyfriend. My mother understands my problem. Her bf wants me out, and I can't blame him really, who wants of a blood sucking parasite in their home. I know my mother wouldn't abandon me and would help me anyway she can and I don't want my presence to cause any tensions between her and bf. They wouldn't kick me out, but let's say that pressure is increasing quickly.

There's also the fact that everyone in the family thinks I'm a loser and that I'm exploiting my mother.

I do my internet stuff to make money. Ive been doing it for about 4 years. I did really good in 2008, but i didnt do that great in 09.
But before that i did absolutely nothing for years. I went to music school on and off and afterwards i made and recorded music by myselft, but i didnt work or anything.

But, you cant feel bad about it, people just dont understand whats going on. Everyone always tells me that i look fine, and it drives me nuts. But it does really suck to have to deal with that.
How old are you again? i forget.

Hi stardust i was wondering if you went to see the doctor yet to get tested for all that stuff? if so how did it go?

Yeah i too worry a great deal about living on my own, i dont know if i can get disability because no one really believes in cfs. I was doing I.T at uni before i got ill i intend to go back before the end of this year. Im really gonna struggle but if i dont finish it i have zero to fall back on.

I live alone, and after using up all my savings i had to claim disability. it was hard, i was refused at first and it had to go to a tribunal, but i eventually got it. i did try to earn some money in the early days but just not well enough to be reliable etc. living alone is a mixed blessing, on one hand i wouldn't really want to inflict my difficult days on someone else, on the other it is horribly lonely and can make one anxious. the partner i was with when i fist got ill departed fairly swiftly! i know quite a few people who claim benefit, again usually after a struggle, and a few who live alone. if you need to claim, start early as i say it can take a long time.
i think we must keep hoping this is not for ever and this is a temporary situation (this is really a note to myself!!).

I get leads for loan companies by advertising on google, yahoo, etc. Its alot harder now because of the bad economy. Companies don't want to pay anything for them anymore.

You might have to get a lawyer. i tried a long time ago and could get it, but i was told if i got a disability lawyer i probably would be able to

I planned on going within the next two weeks. I want to be well prepared so I can tell him exactly what tests I want. I've been doing a lot of research, slowly, but surely. I work on it when I have energy. Next day I feel good I'm gonna go see him I think.

What about you, you tried Adderall?

I wouldn't have the energy to go through all of this, it's pretty horrifying.

I've had a pretty similar experience, i filled in a disability form which took me hours and drained the energy out of me only to get declined. i'm now claiming for an appeal but i don't know if i have the energy and strength to go to a tribunal. I'm still young so i plan on going back to university to finish my studies at least i will have something to fall back on if i get more ill in the future.

If you can do it its worth trying. It took me 3 years to finish my last 1 1/2 of school, but i finally finished. Plus it gave me something to do everyday.

i had an advocate helping me with it all, it got complicated, she was brilliant. local to here but your local citizens advice bureau should know of someone who can help with the form. the form is not m.e friendly, it is designed for people with physical disabilites of different sorts, so bear that in mind when filling it up. it's a horrible process, i literally didn't have a choice, but it does take the pressure off even if you can get back to studying which i hope you can.
