Coffee and Tea addicts?

Postby kenvj » Tue Mar 02, 2010 9:14 pm

I have decided to do the Water Cure under the supervision of a Water Cure Coach. The guy lives in the US so we are going to communicate via Skype during the course. This guy recovered from Cancer using this protocol.
One of the things he wants me to totally avoid is caffein aka Coffee and Tea. Coffee is not too difficult for me to avoid but tea could be difficult. However I remembered that for a while early last year I went onto a tea which contains absolutely no caffein. It tastes just like ordinary Indian or Ceylon tea and it hits the spot.
It is called Rooibos Tea, South African for Red Bush Tea - I can recommend it.
This is a very interesting site about caffein http://www.relfe.com/caffeine.html

Hi kenvj, I was thinking about this very topic last night. Although I dont drink coffee direct, I use decaff products, which looking on the 'net seems much worse than drinking coffee, due to all the processes it goes through. I am just going to have to try giving up the decaff now, which to be honest, the 'boost' I get must be completely psychological...but it is a pleasant taste, especially when I get my frother out and make a decaff cappochino with almond milk! yum.

I will have to revert to the No-caff drink made from organic ground roots...which I quite like, but is sometimes difficult to get hold of

Does the water cure avoid just no caffeine or other stuff that is in drinks ?

One drink I highly recommend is dandelion tea. It is so packed with nutrients and health giving benefits I am amazed it is not on the shelf of every supermarket.

here is a summary:

prevents or cure liver diseases, such as hepatitis or jaundice;
• act as a tonic and gentle diuretic to purify your blood, cleanse your system, dissolve kidney stones, and otherwise improve gastro-intestinal health;
• assist in weight reduction; cleanse your skin and eliminate acne;
• improve bowel function, working equally to relieve both constipation and diarrhea;
• prevent or lower high blood pressure;
• prevent or cure anemia;
• lower your serum cholesterol by as much as half, as its is a good source of Pectin and Vitamin C;
• eliminate or drastically reduce acid indigestion and gas by cutting the heaviness of fatty foods,
• prevent or cure various forms of cancer;
• prevent or control diabetes mellitus;
• and, at the same time, have no negative side effects
• dandelions are nature's richest green vegetable source of beta-carotene, from which Vitamin A is created,
• it is the third richest source of Vitamin A, after cod-liver oil and beef liver!
• Rich in fiber, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and the B vitamins, thiamine and riboflavin, and are a good source of protein.

It will be interesting to read how you get on.

I managed to give up coffee with great sadness. I used to go to Italy a lot and developed a love of real espresso and the 'lift' it gave me. but it became apparent that it was only making me worse so it was farewell. But I still have a cup of tea every day. Kenvj I tried Rooibos but didn't particularly like it. It just wasn't the same as a good old cup of PG Tips. (maybe its a something to do with being English!!) is one cup of tea a day bad?

Hi Minaret - that dandelion tea sounds good. The Water Cure doesn't like people to drink anything with caffein it and a lot do, also stuff that contains aspartame, phenylalanine and CO2 (aerated fizzy drinks)
There's a lot more to it than just the water and salt, you need to study the site.

Hi Alice - I've lived in New Zealand for over 40 years but I am still English - Yorkshire in fact, can't get rid of the accent.
It took me 2 or 3 days to tune into Rooibos tea but after a while I grew to prefer it - still don't understand why I went back to Ceylon tea.
Have a nice one Alice.

i have given up my beloved coffee several times in the illness, not found much benefit and gone back onto it. i'm feeling i should try without again. dandelion root made me want to pee for ever, hence its french name pis en lit (piss in bed!).
so you are a yorkshire man ken, glad you have hung onto the accent. i was born in lancashire thought i don't live there now. so the red rose and the white on the site.

Annie, one thought I had is that the dandelion tea I buy is made from the leaves, flowers & stems, not the root. Does this make a difference to the pis en lit problem (which I don't get on one or two big mugs a day).

Kenvi, The decaff cappochino I buy (for whenever I visit other people) Ive just noted has aspartame in it... so that goes in the bin today too. ( I will look out for phenylalanine and CO2, but thank god I gave up fizzy drinks years ago).
