detox

Postby alicewoolf » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:03 pm

I've decided to go on a detox as I did one a year or so ago and felt like I didn't have M.E. anymore. I didn't realise what this was at the time and thought I was just going through a good phase so I went back to unhealthy lifestyle.. It was the Dr Joshi detox

Am hoping for similar results this time. I feel awful all the time I've almost FORGOTTEN what it feels like to feel well! has anyone had good results with detoxes?

I've been using oil pulling for 3 days now as a way to detox and kill the bad guys.

Today, I'm a bit nauseous, and have a sore throat, brown spots on my tongue (!?) and feels like I'm out of voice. So it's doing something. I'm confident it will help in the long run.

I already follow most of the diet in the link, except red meat, I just can't stop it!

good luck with it, i may follow your example.

Annie I struggle with breakfast too. Somehow I can't face eggs that early! I do have the book though I need to to have another look to refresh my memory. I guess either gluten-free cereal or a protein shake! Will have a look and let you know..

As far as breakfast goes I have just bought Solgar whey protein powder to make breakfast smoothies with. That's all I can think of. I already eat too many eggs I think. It's difficult to live without bread!

Dr Joshi's diet is remarkably similar to the water cure diet.

i wonder why fruits are not allowed except bananas which is one fruit that causes many reactions! and why not red meat? cos it's said to be too rich in saturated fats?
the diet makes sense I think except for the soja which is said to cause a lot of problems. Then again, he excludes wheat and gluten which makes sens but tolerates dairies wherever many pp are intolerant but don't know it (delayed allergies).
Still, it's better than eat manipulated and processed food i guess.

Lili2701- i think fruit is banned because of its effect on blood sugar levels. Not sure why bananas are allowed. I don't have a problem with them. I have also heard about soya being problematic. I have rice milk or lactofree milk instead. I am relieved that dairy is allowed as I find the detox restrictive enough as it is! I have just been eating boiled eggs, ham and cheese and yoghurt to get through the day and am permanently hungry, though that will wear off I'm sure. As for red meat I think its not allowed as its hard for the body to digest and is acidic. I think the idea with this detox is to make the body more alkaline.

Annie- thanks for your encouragement. Its never easy to do these things but am feeling slightly better already and am hoping that the improvement will continue. will let you know!

I dont like breakfast much so I have smoothy. I have one cupboard to put the stuff in. Put milk in blender, green barley powder, banana, or mostly blueberries/or mix of berries, coconut oil, combo of ground up seeds ( have coffee grinder close and just put mix of seeds ie flax pumpkin suflower), some stevia or honey to taste...not exciting to drink but good for you. I have no wheat rye barely oats....most of us have gluten intolerance. My naturopath put me on an enzyme that allows many people to eat dairy (casein) and gluten . It is a product contains DPP 1V plus other enzymes. It digests gluten and casein and heals the damage done to the inner lining of the bowel.

Niaholt thanks for your suggestions for breakfast. Now I just have to go to the health food shop and buy all those ingredients. Its so expensive being ill!! I live on about 10 pounds per day and really struggling to buy all the different supplements etc.
