getting back to studies

Postby neil25 » Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:11 pm

I really want to get back into my studies this september im sick of being stuck at home all the time. I want to go back and finish my final semster at uni. However one of my biggest problems is my concentration. I can read about a page of a book then lose concentration. Can anyone offer me any advice of how i can ease myself back into education?

I have the same problems. It was really hard, but i finished. It took me 3 years to do 1 1/2 years of school.
The only advice i can give, is to just over-prepare for everything. If i had a test i would really overstudy, because i couldnt retain it all. Also i did cheat a little bit. You've gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm in school right now finishing my degree this june and for the last two years I have had severe fatigue and anxiety, and a Very hard time concentrating. You know when its the worst? When your at home. When i was at home i thought I could never do it, but once I got in there and started studying i did pretty good, honor roll every semester. Staying at home is no good for anyone. When I'm at my best I'm working hard, when i'm at my worst I'm at home. Either way it sucks but its better when active. YOU CAN DO IT, trust me I been going through a very tough program and I'm doing it which means you can do it too. It always surprises me so much what I can when I actually do it.

Everyone of your thoughts you described was the way i felt before entering again.

Yes I would echo the views expressed here. It's not easy but it can be done. I went back into halls in my final year so that I had all my meals and cleaning done etc and to avoid distraction. I studied as much as I could even though I felt dreadful, and would go from my desk to bed for regular rests and then back again to my desk. And I got a 2:1 for my B.A. joint honours so it is possible! good luck

I remember i used to do about 4-5 hours a day usually of study when i was healthy and even then it was difficult enough to get good marks. I don't know how im going to finish my degree with the limited energy i have, i just dont think i would be able to stay awake enough to read.
