Stoneage Diet

Postby Minaret » Sun Mar 14, 2010 1:55 am

Has anyone found any real benefit from trying this high protein diet ? Although it is recommended by Dr Myhill in her book 'Diagnosing and Treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome' I am struggling with it. One of her points is that you have a high intake of meat (organic is best). If you cant get access to organic meat or you cant afford it, is it worth dosing yourself with ordinary butchers meat ?

I read that Dr. Paavo Airola, a Nutritionist, warns that excessive protein contributes to toxemia, excessive acidity, nutritional deficiencies, uric acid accumulations and putrefaction in the intestines. An over- abundance of protein also contributes to arthritis, kidney disease, atherosclerosis, cancer, osteoporosis, heart disease, schizophrenia and even pyorrhea, which is the inflammation of the sockets of the teeth leading to loose teeth and eventually tooth loss. Heavy consumption of protein lowers life expectancy and leads to premature aging of the body!

The flavor in meat is derived from the blood and uric acid (nitrogenous waste) within its flesh and other tissues. The uric acid causes tremendous problems for the body, burdening the liver and kidneys as these organs try to deal with all of the toxins contained in meat...

... so it seems to me that eating more protein could in fact create even more toxicity in the body with resulting fatigue for cfs sufferers...what do you think?

yes it seems that this diet is benefiting people who suffer from leaky gut/candidiasis or auto-immune disorders such as Crohn's. I've read many testimnoials of people being cured with such high-protein diets.
The thing is, it can work for some people and not for others. According to Adamo's diet (blood type) the type O can eat lotsa meat while type A is more vegetarian.

This diet resembles the specific carb diet which is easier to follow in my opinion

the stonage diet is almost not feasible in the long-term, I mean socially it's an aberration!

I've got dozens of books on diets according to pathologies and what I really understand is that we first have to check if our intestines is ok-no parasites, candidas, bacterias.. then check if there is any food intolerance (wheat, dairy, egg and nuts being the most common ones), then eat organic if possible, espcially onions, potatoes, veggies that grow from the ground, meat too if possible, avoid all dairiesz which are manipulated and substitute tham with raw milk, soya is to avoid because it's said to be very acid.

it's not easy to not what to eat or not.. but the stoneage diet could be a solution in the short-term, for the intestines to recover and then we can reintroduce carbs bit by bit and still limiting gluten which is inflammatory in any case.

This subject is very confusing as some say it is meat that is giving us cancers and other health conditions. Dr. Mercola only recommends 35 grams and my Dr. says 20 mg. I am reading a book about longevity and the Hunzas and other groups, ate little meat, mainly just fruit and veges and lived to well over 100. I have read recently in many books, that the pancreas can only digest a very small amount of meat at one time and that we need pancreatic enzymes to digest it. Meat takes too long sitting in the gut to completely digest. I am confused about all of this coming from a big eating nation.

For me this diet is unsupportable, I just cant tolerate it. Funnily enough I gorged on carbs and vegetables yesterday and I feel great today...all that meat makes my digestion really slow and my stomach feels heavy for hours afterwards. Anyway we do not have access to organic meat where I live. I dont feel good about consuming meat stuffed with, small "sub-therapeutic" doses of antibiotics, like tetracycline, to animals to make them gain weight, and there is evidence to indicate that the antibiotics kill the flora that would normally thrive in the animals' intestines gets passed to us (you can kill the animal but the antibiotics are still present).

Minaret I'm finding the high-protein diet difficult too so I've gone back to eating bread and rice etc. I just can't eat ham and cheese all day long. It doesn't feel right.

a high protein stone age diet doesn't suit me either. perhaps if i had a resident chef and limitless £££ it would be allright, but i have neither of those things, so i will muddle along dietwise, doing the best that i can.
i know a lot of people have found sarah myhill very helpful, but over the years i have read so many differing ideas and suggestions from her, i think, though she is obviously doing her best, she is as much at sea as the rest of us. i now wait for a brick to fall on my head!!
