Hidden infection

Postby StarDust » Thu Mar 18, 2010 12:23 pm

Since I got reconfirmation that my lymphocyte count is pretty high on regular basis I think what causes my illness might be a latent infection. I thought that an effective way to determine if it is the case would be to weaken your immune system on purpose and let the infection grow to a size at which it easily identifiable. I know it sounds irresponsible and no doctor would want to do this but I don't care being rly ill for a few days to find what the hell is wrong with me...
Anyone knows if it is a technique thats ever been used in medicine?
I think it isn't as dumb as it seems and could be effective

The hidden infection may be xmrv. Have you been tested yet?

one can get a test done in the u.k, very expensive, via biolab in london, they fly the sample to the u.s. i'm not going to bother until they get a properly conclusive test, it is all a bit chaotic at the moment, with different labs providing differing results. i don't think it will be long before there is a standard test, then we can all rush to the test, and, hopefully, treatment.

the xmrv test is pretty expensive. From what ive heard its $300-600 depending on the tests you want.
Plus they aren't sure which antivirals work yet. So even if you test positive, theres nothing you will be able to take.
Im gonna wait a while a see what the results of the rest of the studies are before i would have it done.
