I take it even though mine is normal, but i wouldn't recommend it. My doctor gave it to me, and ive been taking it for a few years. But she didnt tell me that i would have to take it for the rest of my life. I tried to get off of it, but now my thyroid is too low.

thanks for replying. My thyroid is quite high at the moment. I take iodine tablets daily for a little boost. It's so hard to know what is going wrong with you without proper research.

Neil,

the prob with thyroid issues is that for a lot of doctors it's in the range but either it is not or u can have low thyroid even if its in normal range.

so u have to check if u have anti-tpo antibodies and anti-thyroglobuline antibodies, TSH, T3 and T4.

apparently this link is good:

a good way to check if ure not hypo, is to take ur temperature. i think its in the article. otherwise there's also wilsons syndrome which is also hypothyroidism.. so better be careful with thyroid as it is not always what it seems..

When i went to India last year i had about a dozen thyroid tests and they all came back normal. I think my T3,T4 was checked out because its mentioned on a blood test result sheet i was given. It's impossible to get a test for anything here in the UK. i've had the standard thyroid tests over here and it always shows up normal. I just don't know what to do if they all come back normal yet i'm still really ill.
