Becoming a Dancer?

Postby TintedWaterfalls » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:16 pm

I am 16 years old and have had chronic fatigue syndrome for 2 years. I have leg pain, joint pain, extreme hunger, foot pain, food intolerances, anxiety and fatigue. I have a dream of becoming a dancer, but my symptoms stop me from being able to dance. Is is possible for me to be able to dance? What vitamins/programs should I do? What would I have to do to reach my goal?

Thank You,

Firstly I think you should try to find a doctor who understands CFS - thats not easy.
For supplements etc have a look at Dr Cheney's treatment protocol - ://www.ei-resource.org/articles/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-articles/dr.-cheneys-basic-treatment-plan/
If you cannot afford to do a lot probably the best vitamin to take is B12 - best taken in injections 1000 micrograms several times a week, otherwise sublingual lozenges daily, at least 5 mgs a day.
A lot of people here have benefitted greatly from the Gupta Program http://www.cfsrecovery.com/
I hope you can find something that will help you.

In hindsight i would do the following:

1) Yes purchase the Gupta programme.
2) Consult with a coach at the optimum health clinic for CORE issues :http://www.theoptimumhealthclinic.com/clinic/psychology.html

Well in my opinion, illness is here to make us understand sthg about ourselves, helping the physical body through medication is ok but the quickiest way to recovery is dealing with your core issues as CS1 mentionned.
Can you remember what happened before you got ill? can you remember anything at all?
You can become a dancer, if you're ill, some part of you is maybe scared to become a dancer, why would that be? There are so many questions to answer.

I, for instance started feeling really tired after my stepdad left us when I was 12, each trauma after that brought up other symptoms and aggravated my state overtime, although I couldnt see it until I got CFS after my bf left me. Now I understand that when we have emotions, the physical body hurts, the energy is blocked and that's when we get symptoms, if we release these emotions and deal with them, the symptoms go away. I do EFT and Gupta, as well as a good diet, it took me 5 years to get here as I was too young and not open enough to understand that.

Hope thathelps! good luck!!

What you will notice about these CFS boards is that no one really talks about CORE issues and if they do they arent really sure where to start.

Resolving your CORE issues is pretty important. EFT is great initially but you may want some more relaxation cds, guided imagery ,self expression and spirituality to help further.

To resolve these issues I would advise to get a coach.

I agree c.s. it is important to address what you call core issues. We all have 'stuff', more so if we have been ill, unable to work, socialise or do very much at all. Problem is, that for many of us, being unable to work, and not being the possessors of a private incomes, we are unable to afford therapy. Also, a lot of us would find talking on the phone for a long time, let alone travelling to therapy, beyond our capabilities. Many of us did therapy prior to the illness though that is no reason to imagine that we are totally sorted out! is anyone?
it's very hard, not really knowing what is wrong with us. we try so many things to sort ourselves out, believe in the mind/body connection and so on, but actually fell we are getting nowhere.
anyway, i'm glad you are getting well and hope you feel you are there very soon.
To becoming a dancer, the fact that you are young is good, you may well move beyond the illness and have a full life. try everything you feel drawn to, trust your intuition and don"t take on too much at once. good luck.
head bad today, so grammar etc shot to pieces!

C.S. I have heard of a number of people who have gotten well with Gupta without addressing core issues with a therapist or coach. One person I know who made a major recovery without "core issues". I have personally been through my "core issues" with highly trained medical professionals - I would not wish to do this again with a non qualified amateur coach. Thanks but No Thanks.

Yes many dont however I believe many do - Ashok himself worked on his!

There are many good coaches who have a background in psychotherapy .

Good luck and best wishes!

I agree with Annie on the fact that therapists and coaches are more and more expensive, I dont understand how it is supposed to help? I mean I have seen therapists asking 180 euros for a session??? that's a bit less than what I spend in one month for my food! I mean if we're ill we cant work which means less money! I have enough money to live but I have to choose wether this month I'll spend my extra money on gifts, clothes, doctors or therapists, I cant do all of them because the average cost for a session, whatever it is is 50 euros.
However, EFT for ex is easy to do on your own and does not cost anything. There is a fantastic forum where you can ask help to EFT experts and they help me a lot! and I guess it is a start, this with gupta should make a huge difference to most of CFS sufferers I guess, along with good health advise and good supplements.
