I'm going to be 17 in a few weeks. About 16 months ago, I was diagnosed with CFS after having glandular fever. I missed a year of school (UK year 10) but still managed to pass all my GCSE's that I took in the summer of this year.
Now what i'd like to ask is, I know that my performance in sports has been seriously affected, (often achy, only have stamina for around an hour and a half maximum) and that I find it harder to concentrate on my schoolwork, but I've noticed that when playing computer games (another hobby that I can fall back onto when i'm too fatigued to go out) I seem to have very poor performance when playing... I always used to be quite good at games, but I will often find myself playing extremely badly ie, getting killed a lot more than i'm killing, unable to keep up with other people in a racing game, not even able to beat football teams on the lowest difficulty setting when before, I could be 7 or 8 goals up... What i'm wondering is, even if I don't notice that i'm losing concentration like I do in my work, is CFS affecting how I can do things such as computer games?! It kinda makes me feel a bit useless when i'm unable to even enjoy playing computer games because i'm losing all the time, and when it was something that I was really quite good at before...
Another thing about this is that i'm not always pathetic, some days I can just sit down and do fine... But often I come to play and am unable to do anything properly... I know that I don't have CFS seriously compared to many, and it may seem selfish of me to wonder if this is a cause of poor video gaming performance, so I apologise for that. I would just like to get some answers, as it's so frustrating that when CFS stops you doing things actively, it holds you back from doing menial, everyday things.
Sorry for this long winded post, and thanks for any help you can give
Nice to meet you all
