Tired? Sleepy? Disordered breathing!

Postby kenvj » Thu Feb 28, 2008 4:57 pm

I've been having a dreadful time lately with fatigue - getting up in the morning and having to go back to bed after breakfast - sleeping in the afternoon and still tired. Then I began to have trouble getting to sleep because of shortage of breath - everytime I began to relax to drop off to sleep and would start breathing very heavily like I was short of breath.
I finally got a diagnosis - Breathing Disorder - I was not getting enough oxygen!!
I started doing breathing exercises and last night I got off to sleep without trouble and just a wee bit more energy today.
It also explains why I get so sleepy if I use the computer a lot, especially a PC Game - apparently when you are doing things which require a lot of concentration, especially with computers, you hold your breath without being aware of it and almost stop breathing, not getting oxygen!
Hope this may help anyone who just might have this problem.

thats interesting. I think i have sleep apnea. I wake up sometime in the midlle of the night struggling to breathe. When i fully wake up, i can breathe fine. But it can be a little scary sometimes.

Let us know if you keep feeling better with your breathing exercises. :)

Well you could have Sleep Apnea. Thats something I'm qualified to talk about as I've had Sleep Apnea for over 5 years. When this latest problem started I thought it was Sleep Apnea that was stopping me breathing before getting off to sleep so I promptly bought the very lastest Cpap machine the Respironics Remstar M Series Autopap machine and that confirmed that the problem was not Sleep Apnea which was why I approached a breathing specialist.
Hope that helps.
