I had acupuncture for a neck flare a few years ago, I was sitting up one minute and flat on the table passed out the next! The therapist hit a nerve (forgive me  )

Definitely a therapy worth a go, especially for people with tense or knotted muscles.

If you find acupuncture helpful trigger point release/maofascial massage from a qualified and experienced physiotherapist would be good to try.

Ive used acupuncture for CFS and it made me feel pretty good. I felt really relaxed and decent. I would definately like to do it once a week. I think you would have to do it more often to get any longer lasting benefits.

acupuncture and herbs

Postby cfssucks » Tue Apr 01, 2008 8:20 pm

I'm currently trying acupuncture and herbs. My acupuncturist says "little by little" you WILL get better...so I'll keep you all posted on what happens. I have spoken to other people who said they have recovered after acupuncture and herbs, but I am not sure how severe their problems were. Mine are severe. I am exhausted all the time. always. always dizzy. always tired. always fuzzy. That said, I'm waiting to get some sun chlorella too so I'll let you know how that goes. I'm currently taking T3 and i think it has helped to get me out of bed but I'm still beat.

I was told in "98 that I should apply for disability because of my suffering with Fibromyalgia/CFIDS for 3 years. I had gotten progressively worse and eventually lost my job. The thing that worked for me was Oriental Medicine (acupuncture and Chinese herbs). It took months, but I could see improvement over time and by Jan of 2001 I was not only back to work, I was also pregnant- We'd tried for years and given up! I'm now a FT student of Oriental Medicine, have two kids, and am a firm believer that not giving up in searching for what works for you is the biggest key. I might add that I was needle phobic too! The needles really do not feel anything like vaccinations, but you can always start with herbs before you feel comfortable enough with your Acupuncturist to try a needle. Beware of chiropractors or MDs who "do acupuncture", they've usually only taken a 200 hr course. Look for an acupuncturist who has a minimum of a Master's in Oriental Medicine. We are required to have 1000s of hours of experience before licensure, and we must pass a national board exam which covers NOT ONLY a Western biomedicine exam, but 3 other exams specific to Oriental Medicine. Good luck to all!

I am having accupuncture at the moment because I know of two people with CFS who have been cured by it, It's got to be worth a try but I'm not sure how long I should keep going it's quite expensive.
