I'm having real difficulty with my diet, its like all i ever eat is rice, potatoe or soup everyday. does anyone have suggestions of what i can eat? the restrictions of food is quite bad for myself.

I find I get by best on a high protein, slow carb diet which consists of fairly lean meat fish and eggs with fresh veg and beans and pulses for a slow energy release carb. I let myself go once a week though and eat anything that takes my fancy.

I am using pea protein powder to keep the protein levels up. This has helped. Otherwise just a natural balanced diet like loop with a few personal exceptions.

Been through all the diets/food intolerance and allergy testing stuff in far too much detail.

In the end I just thought - Sod it - and have eaten what I want ever since. I've certainly got no worse from doing this, but I have removed one more stress and worry about this illness out of my life. And I am a lot happier because of it.

I mostly eat what ever i want. But i try to stay well clear of all processed food, microwave stuff etc. And I use butter not margarine. Plenty of fresh fruit, that's about it really :)

yeah, i haven't noticed my diet having an effect on anything, except for:

- drinking plenty of water
- avoiding caffeine at all costs

I would definately agree with avoiding the caffeine. I have bad insomnia and 1 soda at dinner time will keep me up til 3 am.
I really didnt even make the connection until recently. I stopped all caffeine and ive been sleeping much better.

Also i do the gupta soften and flow every night. Even though it doesnt help with my cfs, i think it still helps with my insomnia

problem is that i keep quite a restricted diet, no wheat, dairy, barely eat any sugar, no meat. i dont know if anyone else keeps a diet like this. it's really difficult to find foods to eat theres only so much fruit you can eat. If you go out its really difficult to find suitable food to eat. sometimes i starve.

Why do you have this diet?

Sounds like it's doing you more harm than good.

If you want to go down the food allergy route - try an elimination diet.

Make sure you get medical advice about the elimination diet before you start, I have simplified it a lot.

For example
2 weeks on only fresh fruit, meat and veg. Nothing else. We are rarely allergic to these things.

If you feel better after the two weeks. Then start reintroducing foods a day at a time.

This is a very difficult diet to keep up, but for it to work you have to do it 100% or it's not worth doing. I've done it twice and it was utter misery.

If it makes no difference, forget about which foods cause you a problem and just eat a sensible diet. Keep off eating processed rubbish, caffeine and alcohol in the main.

IMO If your diet is so restrictive you're almost starving yourself, that is not healthy.

Whenever I eat fresh fruits, I immediately get massive diarrhea. This wasn't the case, pre-ME/CFS. :?
