my symptoms and gupta

Postby moore » Thu Dec 03, 2009 12:01 pm

Hi
I have real confusion about my symptoms and whether something like the gupta programme can help me.
When i first found out about the programme it made such alot of sense to me i almost felt immediately a bit better.
I bought the cds but to be honest havent really been able to stick to it.
Heres what happens.
I start doing the course with real hope and seem to get a little better for a few days and then i get worse and cease to believe in the process.
At this point i find it very hard to make a connection between what i,m feeling in my body and the theory behind the Gupta approach.
Then i think that my illness is something different that wont get better by doing the Gupta programme.
My symptoms are like this.
Mild persistent flu like feelings
Overwhelming tiredness in that weird way that isnt like being just normally tired.
Then sometimes i wake up with cold sweats and headache and again flu symptoms.

I also find the stop stop technique difficult in that i dont know what im meant to be stopping my stress or the symptoms which seem to merge as one.
I appreciate that people have far more severe symptoms than me but you know when its ongoing like this it can be a nightmare.
Any advise on this would be great
Thanks
David

Just take note that other people have benefitted from doing the Gupta course and stay at it. If you really want to get well then you will do it.
Best wishes

I know exactly what you mean David. And I still struggle with this a bit.

I am also guilty of only using the STOP when I'm having a bad day, as a kind of last resort.

This I realised recently. STOP any thoughts about being ill. Including those when you are trying to work out why you are ill or what has caused it. I have a constant dialogue along the lines of...

"I feel like I've got the flu"

" I wonder if this is a cold or ME"

"I hope it isn't flu, I've got something to do this weekend"

" I feel crap today, what did I eat yesterday"

etc etc

Stop these thoughts!!! They are using up all my brains energy and making me tired, even before the adrenaline cycle is put into the equation.

I'm like that too. I've read that people with CFS seem to be split between those who get never get anything that's going around and those who pick up every infection and have a hard time shaking them. An explanation for not getting anything is that our immune systems are constantly partially avtivated preventing anything from getting a hold, or conversely that our immune systems are too weak to do anything so we just gradually become a big bag of viruses without really noticeing. In a similar vein, I lost my allergies to dust and cats when I became ill and whenever I go into remmission they come right back.
