How to increase oxygen thru breathing...Dr Cheney

Postby niaholt » Sat Dec 05, 2009 6:43 pm

I thought this might be a helpful site for those of us still struggling with breathing problems. It increases oxygen, something that is difficult for us to achieve. http://www.ei-resource.org/articles/chr ... en-intake/

nia, thank you so much for this link. i used to use dr weil's breathing methods ages ago but i don't remember stage 3 being quite like that, i'm not certain i'm getting it right though i have been trying ! how are you doing with it?
i'm thrilled to read the mention of the brain being swollen, i have been moaning on to anyone who would listen for years that my brain felt swollen and got not response whatsoever, i feel vindicated at last.
for me, this breathing method is far more effective than when i use the stress eraser. i'm sure the s.e is marvellous for some people but maybe some of us need something different.
i have a very nasty habit of chewing gum, no idea why, perhaps agitation, i wonder if this affects my breathing. i must observe carefully.

Hui Annie,
This is suiting me too.....dont feel compelled to sit for 20 mins at a time as this only takes a short time adn I know it must be doing me good. However I will still do other breathing just to maintain a calmer stance. I only started yesterday so we will see. The funny thing is I forgot to do my regular breathing this morning as I was too engrossed on another forum.

I agree there has to be some form of brain swelling for so many strange happenings going on....a thick head where you just cant think.

I decided to go to the beach today early at 7 am as it is very hot here now. I did Cheneys breathing at the sink and when I got to the beach my heart rate was lower. Now I dont know if that is a coindcidence or not. I can spend 90 mins on breathing exercises early morn so I can walk a few steps at the beach and still my heart rate is high....not this morning tho. I will monitor it to see if it is helping.

Now your gum chewing I can relate to because what I am doing is chewing all the skin off the right inside of my mouth. I can get like an old cow chewing its cud till my mouth is bleeding. The only time I stop is when I lay down...more relaxed. If it is not mouth chewing it is teeth grinding but I dont think I am uptight.? When I was on the tranquilizer I was very calm and relaxed and only did mouth chewing at night when I was due to take the pill.....so it must be anxiety.

By the way I as put on Zyprexa and it calmed my body down and helped me get out of bed after 3yrs...cured my anorexia......I was dying until I took it and it only happened because of a stuff up with other drugs that gave me temporary Parkinsons for which I had to be hospitalized. The neurolgist said he would have to put me on Zyprexa and Tegretol as he could not stop the other bad drugs immediately due to withdrawal problems.

Suddenly I could sit up and eat and after some time leave the house. I went on to continue improving as it CALMED THE BRAIN. This is why I believe Ashoks theory of the overstimulating effects of the Amygdala is causing out symptoms. However after some yrs my body rejected all drugs. Now I am back to the racing heart and High Blood pressure after having low BP for yrs. I am still glad I am off all drugs even tho my life is a lot poorer.

Annie,
If you are chewing gum, wouldnt you be swallowing air making more carbon dioxide? You tend to open your mouth chewing gum. If you want to chew gum, tape your mouth !!!!!! Buteykjo says it is important to keep you mouth closed as much as possible that is why taping at night is a good idea or you undo all the good you do thru the day.

Yes, release from panic and anxiety....not a good drug to stay on long term tho......many severe side effects like diabetes.

The key is to avoid hyperventilation in CFS.

1) AR and breathing
2) Core issues
3) Breathing , visualisation, meditation
4) Challenging your thoughts - BULLSHIT!
5) Interests / Self development

It takes time but eventually we can get there!!!

Im also adding a few other things to boost energy

1) diet
2) mito & detox
3) exercise

thanks c.s. hope you are still doing well. personally, i do not hyperventilate, i seem to not breath enough, not often enough that is, rather than the amount of air i take in. trying to monitor this carefully.

2 things have struck me during my journey through CFS:

1) ADRENALINE - Caused by prolonged stress or TRAUMA a person to become over sympathetic - it weakens blood brain barrier ( hence a build of toxins in the brain and the AMYGDALA )

2) MERCURY and heavy metals clog up mitochondria and brain.

I am trying to approach BOTH angles - so the key seems to become as Parasympathetic (using the Gupta techniques, massage, essential oils )as possible and detox METALS and build mitochondria via diet/supps and exercise.
