Adrenal Support while on Gupta?

Postby JR » Fri Dec 18, 2009 11:38 am

Has anyone who has been on Gupta for a while, and is not as recovered as much as they would like, tried some form of adrenal support?

I'm looking into this, since I still feel that I'm quite fatigued (despite VAST improvements from where I was!). I'm also very anxious most of the time and have put on weight around my midsection, in spite of a healthy diet and smaller portion sizes. I know this can sometimes be related to cortisol issues. I'm interested in trying the salivary cortisol tests and possibly Isocort or Cortef.

Anyway, just thought I'd put it out there, in case anyone has some thoughts to share. For the first year or so on Gupta, I tried to solely focus on that, but I'm branching out some, at this point. I do have to say that it's been very hard for me to continue with the Gupta protocols. In fact, I'm terribly negligent. I just got bored with it after a year or so, and too involved with other things in life to keep at it regularly. Soften and Flow used to really help me, but it's soooo familiar to me by now, that the words don't seem to have an impact. Not to mention that I feel too jittery to settle into it, as well.

Cant live withour Adrenal support...helps my jiterryness......look into saliva testing....it will tell you exactly where you are. I take natural glandulars rather than Hydrocortisone as i cant tolerate it.

Hi JR,

adrenal hormones may help, but they also have a drawback like all hormone supplementation.

I know of 2 supplements that helped me. 1) siberian ginseng. The best brand is by Mediherb, by an australian naturopath. another good brand is by Solaray. either one would cost maybe $15/month or so.
2) cytozyme AD. this is adrenal extract, not containing hormones.

But mental retraining (be it EFT, GP,...) is essential.

A simple thing that I noticed: I spend a lot of time on my computer. if I stay away from it, and from TV for 3 hrs before sleep, and go for a light walk (not exercise, just to move around a bit, let the wind blow in my face), it does wonders for my sleep.

i take cytozyme AD also, its pretty helpful. It gives me energy without making me jittery.

JR- The words "Soften and Flow" are really irrelevant. They don't have any impact per se. S&F is just a mindfulness practice where you are intentionally accepting the unpleasant sensations in order to free up the resistance energy that is being used up. That's where the benefit comes from.

You don't even need to say S&F, as long as you keep your attention on the symptoms during the in and out breaths in an open, accepting way.

For more on this, checkout MBSR (mindfulness based stress reduction) where this technique is used for all sorts of illnesses and chronic pain conditions. More specifically, checkout Jon Kabat-Zinn's book "The Full Catastrophe" from the early 90's where he pioneered this approach with chronically ill patients at UMASS Medical Center. Eventually MBSR spread around the globe.

No matter what the inevitable cause of CFS turns out to be- XMRV, or anything else- that technique will always provide some sort of benefit with any symptoms.

Best of luck.

A question.?
If we believe the theory that the Amygdala stimulates the Sympathetic nervous system at will,24/7 Then we have this abnormal response from the Adrenals....so LEVELS must be inconsistent
and unreliable until the whole Sympathetic System has had a chance to normalize .?This is not saying the levels are low ...the Adrenals are just reacting ,at the wrong times....eg When it sees a stick...and thinks it is a snake ?? So the levels taken will not be giving a true indication of what is happening in the body ?.

The cytozyme is a hormone. Its minced up Adrenal Gland.

i know its possible to have normal levels of a substance (hormones, neurotransmitters), but have super sensitive receptors or have too many receptors that sense the substance. And different chemicals can cause the receptors to become more or less sensitive.

Chemicals that the immune system puts out can increase sensitivity to cortisol.

I tried adrenal supps/hormone replacement for ages...always battled with jitteryness. After some more research to see waht part of the puzzle i was missing, i found out that the adrenals compensate for a poorly functioning liver. forget liver tests...they will show its fine. I started taking St Marys thistle and other liver detox/regenerate herbs. BIG BIG difference. In a few hours even. I plan to do a colon detox and liver cleanse shortly. Gupta still remains the cornerstone of my recovery. Without it, nothing works...the "master program" just writes over any treatments.
