starting amygdala retraining

Postby phoenix » Fri Feb 26, 2010 1:33 am

Hey everyone :-) I'm new here and I just got my pack of DVDs etc for the Gupta AR programme. I'm a bit confused about how to start (and a bit brain tired at the moment). I watched all the 'free' videos (sessions 1-3) before I bought the programme. Am I meant to watch them again? Is the book a transcript of the DVDs and am I meant to read it as well?

I've got a pretty good grasp of the theory (not new to me and Gupta's take on it makes alot of sense). I'm not feeling alot of joy at the idea of watching the first three sessions again and don't want to force myself to watch them, but I also wonder if I should wait to start the programme until I feel like watching them, as it may be beneficial to go through them all from the start like they were designed to be used.

Also wanted to say that I've really appreciated the positive comments that people have made on this forum about the programme. Having people post about what works is very helpful and encouraging. I think I read something about Ashok setting up an online support group for positive approaches to the programme - does anyone have more information on that?

thanks,
phoenix

If you've already watched 1-3 just jump straight in to Session 4. That's when the fun stuff starts

the online forums - He mentioned it at the referesher day.

The Gupta technique WORKS - you may need additional help as you become calmer to address your CORE issues which were present at the time of your Traumas - for me this is my INNER CHILD!

Sam redgrave and her colleagues worker deeper at anxiety issues.

For me all the good memories are slowly coming back and Im doing all the things I loved to doing as a teen...

1)listening to HIP HOP
2)watchings SCI fis
3)watching comedys
4)putting all my happy pictures /memories of a child
5)becoming artistic
6)playing some footy

HIP HOP was the one things that kept me going through all my worries as a teenager

Thanks :-)

I ended up watching the first session today and was glad I did - there were some gems there I didn't remember from the first time.

Interesting about the hip hop. Do you make choices based on lyrics as well as music? I'm finding music really important too and that I need lyrics that make me feel good. I don't want to listen to difficult or negative lyrics, which is hard sometimes when my body really likes the music.

I'm building up a list of things I love to do as well :-)

My traumas run quite deep.

The AR programme is the main part of my regime - Im also due to see a therapist from the open mind who specialises in CFS/anxiety for some extra help
As part of my self development Im doing all the things I really loved doing and that include abit of attitude in hip hop / comedys/films sports/ socialising and reading self dev books. Im also starting a business venture that I have always wanted to do :)

Hang in there your closer to becoming totally well than you think!
