I am 57 and have had ME/CFS for around 5 years but have had it quite mildly until last year. I was able to continue working 16 hrs per week, but it is a stressful job and most of the time I worked I felt ill with fluey symptoms, sore throats, fatigue etc.
Last year in March I lost the sight in my left eye suddenly (macular hole) and had a complex op in May which partially restored but had bad ME/CFS symptoms for some months after. I insisted on "reasonable adjustments" under the Disability Discrimination Act (am in the U.K.) before I would return - for both the eyes and the ME/cFS.
I went back to work at the end of Sep on a phased return but found that things were not as easy for me - work rate had increased, and I was weaker. I spent most of my time off resting. Then I got whooping cough in January and am still signed off sick and only just recovering from the ME/CFS symptoms.
In my time off I have looked at things to explore to help with healing. I have made the very tough decision not to return to work as I feel it is detrimental to me recovering. A friend has had the Lightning Process, and helped her, so suggested I should try it. I don't have the money and doubt the process, so I landed on the Gupta Programme which seems to have something in common with LP but is gentler, cheaper and Gupta seems to have integrity.
I am lucky in that I do not have pain unless I have a real setback like the 2 mentioned, but I do have anxiety so I think that Gupta's approach could be useful for this side of things especially. It was good to find this thread and I will post on here and compare notes with others doing the programme.
