Hi Dave!
Welcome! I'd be happy to boost your confidence. I've just watched Session 4 for the second time, to remind myself to stick at it. I find support from other sufferers very, very helpful. I set up a
blog to track my progress, as I find that feedback from others not only encourages me to keep blogging, it also encourages me to stick to the program! Do whatever you need to do to overcome your internal fears and/or resistance to sticking at it.
Your symptoms will go away as you let your body rest and recover, once the programme has turned down your tendency to be stuck in fight-or-flight mode. Let go of the expectation that you'll feel better after doing the techniques; in my experience, I don't. I feel better after a decent sleep where I haven't been running on adrenaline all night. Skip the 10 minute walk. Stop doing anything that makes you feel ill; that's your body saying that it's unhappy. Listen to it. You have the rest of your life to exercise once your health is better. Don't eat junk, and you'll survive just fine with no exercise.
It's not about "positive thinking", it's about interrupting a chemical process in your brain to release your body from constant stress. The fear you're experiencing is just part of that chemical process. It's unpleasant, but it's normal. Follow the program anyway. Telling people about your fear usually lessens it, so feel free to post here or on a blog about how you really feel. Talk to me on skype if you like. Anything that lessens your emotional stress is likely to help. I'm 3 months into the program and I'm recovering slowly; but most importantly I finally have answers to what is going on in my body that make sense to me.
Above all, don't give up! You will get there. Coming to terms with the fact that it will take some time is part of the journey. Keep in touch!
Cheers,
Graham
