I agree, Claire Weekes is marvellous - just to listen to her speak is a tonic! She's downright sensible, but humorous too. There's another writer - Annie Payson Call who wrote about a century ago on the same topic - Nerves and Common Sense is one of her books. It's interesting how they are all saying the same thing - the same diagnosis and the same method of recovery.
Thanks for the link, Sylvia. I downloaded it onto my MP3 player and listened to it this morning. "Utter, utter acceptance" has been my motto all day!
Thanks for posting this link, Sylvia. I've downloaded it to my iPod, too. I'd never heard of Dr. Weekes - she's fabulous! Listening to her is sort of like getting CBT from the Mother Superior in The Sound of Music! Her terms feel a little antiquated, but it's kind of charming. My favorite line so far is: "Setback is your friend, so don't despair during setback!" I think it's an excellent adjunct to Ashok's work, and is very similar.
This is great! When you hear a similar thing said by another practitioner who is obviously experienced, it can really support the retraining work!
