A question to Guptra, very weird symptom

Postby Rmx3000 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 1:52 pm

I don't know if this is normal for cfs patients, but every day when I first wake up I feel completely normal and then 30 minutes in the day I can actually feel the symptoms creeping up and bam I'm right back where I started feeling fatigue. I been to soo many doctors in the kaiser scene an they have no idea and keep sending me to psych, and i know im not depressed, do you have any idea what might be going on? I had a lot of stress right before this started, and i was taking adderal too due to being ADD. Those are the two things that I was doing prior to this happened?

It sound like it could be CFS. You need to see a good doctor and have a full medical check up including blood tests - if nothing shows up there then it probably is CFS.

I don't think its possible for anyone here to give you a diagnosis, you have to make that decision yourself. If after having had a good look at the symptoms of CFS and there is nothing else your doctor can point to then it is possible that you may have CFS. You must decide if you want to give treatment for CFS a go. Maybe you should look at the Gupta program which helps a lot of people here.

I'm not asking for a Dx, I'm asking if its a symptom that he has heard of. The symptom I'm referring to is waking up feeling fine then 30 minutes into the day I feel very tired/fatigued.

It sounds to me like a very common symptom of CFS. The metabolism is apparently much slower first thing in the morning, so when you already have little energy, getting up and trying to get into the day brings you up against a brick wall. I still experience this every day; even though later in the day I can go for long walks now and do many other things, if I don't take things slowly first thing in the morning, I quickly become drained of energy and very pale-faced and want to go straight back to bed. I find I have to do the STOP routine much more in the morning than at other times.

I sometime wake up feeling fine and symptoms arise about 30 minutes later.

Other-times the exact opposite. I start off very bad- but 30 mins. later feel much better.

You definitely are a strong candidate for CFS from what you've said.

I wake up feeling wonderful with great plans and an hour later feel as though a bus has hit me..completely off my face with fatigue. Sometimes it is difficult to get a diagnosis if your Dr has never had a CFS case. You might have to phone around and find a CFS DR who knows about it to give you a proper diagnosis. Sounds a lot like CFS to me.

I alternate as Recovery Soon does. Some mornings I feel fairly good in the morning and then crash and some mornings those first thirty minutes or so are really horrible and then I feel much better.

Whilst on this recovery program has anyone noticed a change in their symptoms being all over the place My friend who has recovered said her body started to act differently where she would vomit for day and stop and then it would return a few days days later.......strange kinds of things whilst she was in recovery. My experience at the moment is that I never know what each day is going to bring. I used to have a fairly predictable pattern to symptoms to now being all over the place........is the Amygdala being challenged.?

Yip! I've experienced that, and still am. All kinds of strange sensations in the brain as well, which I had never had before. I think it is things shifting and readjusting themselves.

Also does anyone find that doing the STOP thing makes them yawn? It makes me yawn fit to split my jaw sometimes! A therapist friend has told me that is a good thing, as it is the tension releasing itself.

See, with me this happens everyday and everyday since I had the disease. I wake up feeling fine and then bam, So weird.

Although some of the new symptoms are headaches every night around 7Pm, and a feeling of relaxation of the cfs when I get a headache. Anytime my body gets any kind of stress the cfs feels better

Hi everyone

I agree with the comments here. In the mornings the "nerves are raw", i.e. it takes a bit of time for consciousness to kick in and to be awake. This can result in wierd sensations which can be different day to day, hour to hour.

With ME/CFS, and with retraining, symptoms may come and go, wierd feelings and sensations may come and go, this is normal because we are dealing with stimulation of the nervous system which itself is up and down through the day. And once it is stimulated, it may cause secondary effects which are difficult to predict.

Rmx3000 - I would recommend having a formal diagnosis from a ME/CFS friendly doctor or hospital where they can do the tests to exclude other conditions.
