Meditating before breakfast

Postby SarahB » Mon Apr 06, 2009 3:49 am

Hi

I've been using the AR technique for about 6 weeks now, and it's going well. I love the morning meditation, which is the main technique apart from the Stop technique that I use - but fitting it in can be a challenge as I don't have a guaranteed quiet place to go. I've been waiting till my children and husband leave for work and school at 8/8.30 before getting started. This means I don't get breakfast till after 9 most mornings, and I'm starving! (I'd have to get up at 6 to have a quiet house, and I'd hate to get up that early!) How essential is it that I meditate before breakfast rather than after?

Hi Sarah

My wife does the same in that she waits until after we all leave to meditate. I don't think it makes much difference whether you each before or not.

Some people say you're supposed to meditate before eating (because of digestion), but I think its fine to do it afterwards if you need to. I do it sometimes. I've also heard some meditation masters say its OK.

That would make life easier - some days they just don't seem to want to leave the house, and I'm starving! :D

Thanks everyone!
