Fully recovered?

Discuss The Guptra Programme's Amygdala Retraining Techniqes

Postby dmbaken » Sat May 09, 2009 2:55 am

Hi Recovery Soon

I too am not convinced this is full recovery. We are loving it but would always be greedy and take some more.

Just a couple of corrections to your interpretation of what I said.

Ken is right in that I did say on some days (not each day as you said).

Also, there is no certain connection of the migraines with the ME. She had ME for 10-12 years but the mirgraines only started about 2 years ago after the hysterectomy (severe endo). Loss of ovaries muck around with hormones and hormones are greatly connected with migraines. Its pretty hard to get them balanced again. So the migraines may have nothing to do with the ME and to judge her full recovery on that may not be fair.

By the way she decided to try to roll a kayak on Friday night (when she took our 2 younger children to canoe polo) after going for a 30 walk on the beach and helping out at the girls school. I writing this on Saturday night at home as she is out with friends.

Things sure are getting back to normal around here. Its great! I don't say this all brag but to encourage others to try or to keep trying.

Kind regards

Don

Don,

Thanks for your clarifications. Glad you are so happy by the recovery. You should be. It's wonderful to hear and very encouraging. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Kenv,

You seem to view objectivity as perfectionism. I would suggest that your own need to serve as the positivity police on this forum is itself extremely perfectionistic. If my comments to someone else were "pedantic", then maybe the best step you could take for your own health would be to ignore me and my comments, or just be positive towards the other person without mentioning me.

Yet, you are drawn like a moth to a flame each time this occurs. Perhaps you need to interrupt this obsessive tendency, which clearly has not served you well in your recovery, which began with rave program reviews on many a website straight out of the gate, only to abruptly disappear once the hopes were not actualized. Maybe some objectivity on your part would help alleviate the disappointment, and actually bring you closer to recovery. Because if Gupta's research is accurate, you are falling into the 6% of people who did not fully recover, which would suggest by your own prior comments, that something you are doing must be holding you back.

Maybe this tendency to defend and make right all wrongs is your achilles heel. Maybe each and every time I or anyone else write's a post that gets you upset, should serve as a warning to interrupt your thoughts and walk away from the computer. Maybe that discipline is what you need to end your adrenaline cycle.

I am able to work full time and am not fully recovered, but feel pretty good. I don't suffer from anxiety and am optimistic about the future. I also feel encouraged by others who have gotten so much better. I feel confident enough and comfortable enough to question claims, without destroying my faith. I think that attitude is necessary and ultimately serves those on the sidelines looking for a balanced discussion in order to make a purchase decision.

Good to hear how well your wife is getting on Don

hope the migraines settle soon, they are not pleasant.

Your wife must be on top of the world :D

i hit my year of doing AR on 7th may. i still have daily
symptoms but nothing compared to how they were.
Im in a dip but im positive about this and know it will
be over before long. Saying this, dip or not, i still managed
to go into town after the school run and do my chores at
home. Visit my mum and have a friend round for tea -
last year a dip would have meant bed and sleep!!!

Give your wife my regards :D

Hi Emarald

Its great to hear that your dips are so much better than they were.

Its interesting how this program really works but for others it does not. But then even medications like anti depressants only work for some people.

Anyway, enjoy your improved health!

Regards

Don

Recovery Soon.
I don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this. I think we should agree to disagree.

Kenv,

I think that is what I was getting at. Sounds like a plan.

Recovery

Someone's opinion of being recovered must be there's alone. Our state of health has to be our subjective experience of it.

I wonder however, whether this striving for perfection (ie: recovery is never resting and never having physical issues) is actually a part of the whole CFS/ME sufferer's profile!

I don't suffer and haven't suffered but I have worked with dozens of people that have had CFS/ME. There's too much for me to explain about my approach and who I am here. I'll leave my web links below.

The most important thing is that you work with your own sense of self and what is acceptable to you, not other people. It is this externalised frame of reference that causes us to stress about what is going on 'out there' and forget that we have stewardship of this wonderful body that needs us to love and look after it.

Being sensitive to the moods of the body and not stressing when you feel tired, will lighten the burden on the immune system and cause your IS to heal.

Best of wishes and good intent to all
