Haha! I am weird I know. I hadn't drunk alcohol for about 20 years and started because of the boredom from CFS. By 6 in the evening I was getting tense from pure boredom and I suppose the social isolation. But I can usually only tolerate half a glass and then I start feeling sick. So I call it medicinal drinking. I drink water beforehand. I think hydration is really important, I wish I could drip it into a vein each night. I also was a veggie for many years and gave that up as advised many times to help me get better. I stopped the red meat at Ashok's suggestion but realised I felt better with it so will continue, small portions only. I have always eaten a natural diet because that makes the most sense to me.

I think increasing the water content and balancing your blood sugar levels is pretty important in recovery and avoiding junk food.

Its been awhile since I checked back here, but I appreciate all the responses. :-) I'm more like the people who say they feel better while drinking, but feel sick for days after. I'm not sure I'm ready to admit its the alcohol that's the only factor making me sick, though. I find it so difficult to determine cause and effect and Gupta says we really shouldn't try. I mean usually when I have a drink or two its because I've gone out, and I know I've gone out and not had a drink and felt pretty much the same way the next day. Concentrated amounts of sugar will even make me feel as sick or more so for a day or two, so it could be the amount of sugar in the drink...like some sweet wines seem to be more of a problem for me. In fact, I don't feel too bad the next day if I just have a rum and diet Pepsi at home while relaxing. Mopping the kitchen floor makes me feel as bad or worse than having 2 sweet drinks...so I could go on and on trying to determine cause and effect, but its better not to worry about it. One thing I do know, is that I never sleep well if I've had alcohol too late in the evening. There are plenty of other times I don't sleep well, but alcohol sure isn't a help there for me.

I think the best way to determine if it makes a difference is to do what someone else mentioned, and just eliminate alcohol for a few months to see an overall effect. I should probably try that and pay attention to the results. I doubt it will cause me much more stress to give it up for awhile.
