I thought it was good. There's no 'quick fix' and no alternative to slogging away with the STOPs etc. ,but it was very strengthening to hear Ashok talk it all through and answer so many questions from people going through the process of amygdala retraining. I felt very confident when it was over, that I'm on the right track and doing very well, considering.

There was one lady there who had had ME for 18 years, and she's almost completely better after 18 months on the programme. That was encouraging for me; I suspect I was the longest-practising person at the seminar, as it's almost 2 years that I've been retraining my amygdala. Comparing myself to others there was also good, as I could see how far I've come in that time. Also , I realised that I was a much higher anxiety case than most of them there, which could be why it's taken me so long.

I had hundreds more questions to ask Ashok, but there were so many people there, I didn't have the chance! I'm very glad I went - it was very motivating and encouraging, and I don't feel it will take me much longer now to crack it.

Were you there CS1?

Very helpful Damask, thank you so much for posting. I do need so many boosts, as, like you, I have been slogging away for ages now, glimpses of improvement and times of utter drought. It still makes complete sense and every time I read the book or look at a d.v.d I reassure myself that I am on the right track.
Interesting to hear about the anxiety too. Well done for going and again thank you.

Im SO GLAD I WENT! It was great to see ashok in person and know that he is absolutely in the ball with his ideas and hypothesis.

Did you write up some notes? I did the next morning...There were some interesting things that were mentioned Ill be exploring. I can share the notes with the board if anyone wishes...

Hello CS1,

Glad to know you were there! I didn't write up any notes - my concentration ain't very good, but it would be nice if you shared yours here. Actually, I couldn't take in a word Ashok said for the first ten minutes, with all the charts and scientific explanations - it was a relief when we got up to do the floor chart bit!

I liked the Acceptance, Amusement, Amazement idea. But actually, what I've found most effective was Linda's idea of singing as a way of distracting the amygdala. I love music and singing, so I tried it out in the train on the way home. Everytime the amygdala started it's nonsense, I burst into song (mentally, so as not to scare the other passengers) and threw myself into the music - it worked like magic.

Also, Ashok's insistence that the technique must be done in a light-hearted way, and not taken too seriously was helpful.

Well, that's all for now.

Best wishes to all!

Hi CSI and Damask,
Anything you can remember or took note of would be great to have on here. there must be lots of details of value to those of us who couldn't make it.
i like the idea of singing, i often put on you tube and join in mentally with favourite songs, i think it must use a different part of the brain to words.
i wonder if the film is going to be made available, you said they were filming it.

CS it would be great if you could type up your notes for those of us who were unable to attend.
It would be nice to read the Q&A if possible.
Many thanks

Acceptance, Amusement, Amazement is a way of dealing with the vagaries of the amygdala. As soon as it flares up with messages of doom and gloom, you first accept it, (rather than resist it or get in a panic about it) then see it with amusement - "What a ridiculous way it has of carrying on!" etc. Then bring in amazement at the whole thing - "it really is astonishing how insistent it is, and how it blows everything up out of all proportion" etc. This way, you remain detached from the amygdala rather than being hoodwinked by it. It's already touched on in the AR programme - but Ashok focussed on it a bit in his seminar.

I don't thing AG mentioned what he was going to do with the film. Hopefully it will become available soon - it's only for trainers.

I wonder if anyone asked if there was any obvious reason why some people respond more quickly and succesfully to the programme than others. I know he talks about this in the programme, but i wonder if he elaborated on it at all.

Annie / damask rose/ all

Ive just relaised that i actualy didnt write that many notes down - i had to remember them the next morning :) :

When one becomes Parasympathetic you can feel the mercury/germs detoxifying – “its like dirt.”

The STOP is an interruption so that eventually the amygdala stops responding the way it does and your neurons become stronger.

Meditation should be increased to 30 mins from 20 min

Alcohol numbs the brain and puts strain on the body

Immune system is compromised because 50 % is fighting a germ war that doesn’t exist.

If you have a blocked nose for alternate breathing – drink more water

ME / CFS has cross-overs with autism as amygdala hyperarousal is involved in both.

Ashoks CORE issue was “ he thought he wasn’t good enough”

Meditations gets rid of “ all sorts of rubbish”

Possibly working with a Doctor in the US in the future

Write down negative thoughts

Mindfulness and Awareness of negative thoughts

Overcoming CFS / ME is a sign of growth

Get out of the HOUSE – it can be a negative anchor

Asked about alternatives “ there was mention of CHAKRAS ” and how a lot of energy is stuck just above the stomach area

Working and doing the AR system may be a good thing as you have more distractions whilst working

Be kind to your body and not be angry whilst doing the techniques.

CFS is a sign – you may need to continue with meditations for good

***Some notes were distributed during the seminar which were pretty good...

What interested me in particular:

The mention of chakras and energy /mercury / germs / longer meditations / CORE issues / doing the technique correctly

Regards
CS :)
