Discuss The Guptra Programme's Amygdala Retraining Techniqes

A Major Victory

Postby kenvj » Wed Sep 16, 2009 3:48 pm

Like most people with CFS I suffered from anxiety for many years. For the last 27 years I have been on Trimipramine daily to control the anxiety. When I began the Gupta program (almost a year and a half now) I was taking a large dose, 150 mg daily of Trimipramine. Meditation helped a little but it was when I added Pranayama breathing to my mediation and S&F a few months ago that I began to notice the improvement. I was able to slowly reduce the drug, very slowly, until this week and now I have now completely stopped. This is the first time in years and years that I have been able to function without taking anti-anxiety drugs. If it were not for Ashok's program and Ashok's advice to learn Pranayama I would not be where I am now. I did learn one thing about Pranayama which helped particularly and that was that on the out-breath I made sure to expell "All" the air from my lungs.
Fatigue wise I am also very good and I'm continuing to improve, I estimate that I am now at least 80 percent recovered. Its hard to say exactly because I have grown old with this illness and the last few years especially I have suffered the ageing process. However if I were not to improve any further I would still say that I feel very satisfied - I now have a life whereas before I didn't. I know its possible that I may "Dip" again but I'm now feeling much more confident of the future.

Kenvj,

Fantastic news! These thinigs are always emphasizing Ashok's "you CAN get better!" (can you hear him say that?! :D )

In this regard; did you do the Art of Living course? It's all about breathing and relaxing. Sounds like a complementary thing you might benefit from tremedously!

Best,
Emergo

Hi Emergo - the Art of Living Course was too far for me to travel (250 kms each way) and also too expensive.
I'm doing well enough without it though.

hi kenvj,
I think you had a big dip whilst you were doing the programme. do you have any idea what caused this, and how you brought yourself out of this?
i am so glad you are doing so very well. i too am growing older with this condition, i was a very different person when i was first diagnosed 18 years ago, it had been brewing for years before that too.
best wishes to you, you are an inspiration.

what fantastic news Ken

you must be feeling pretty much on top of the world at the moment..
Best of Luck for your improving health

It warms my heart to hear of people finding a road to recovery. Its a
huge battle for us and many of us despair of ever feeling healthy again,
it gives much hope to those starting out on AR
