There's a newer anti depressant called cybalta that recetly came out. Ive been taking it for my fibromyalgia pain. It doesnt tottally fix the problem. But i'll just add it to the list of things that help
cymbalta does help with fibromyalgia pain. I think its a little different from other antidepressants. Ive been taking it for 5 months now. I also seem to sleep better with it. I was having really bad sleep for a while. But its doing a lot better now. I think its the cymbalta that doing it
Maye i should try this. I would love to find a drug thats not addictive like pain killers or muscle relaxers that i could take for pain and not feel bad about. I think im gonna look ino this
Cymbalta, like other anti-depressants and most opioid pain killers (though not generally Tramadol) can be addictive and generally loses potency over time (note that NSAIDs like aspirin are not addictive).
It is very important to distinguish between dependance and addiction.
Dependence means the patient cannot attain the same quality of life without or on a reduced dose of the drug, this is fine. In fact, it's good: it means the dose is appropriate and the medication is working! Addiction is when the body develops a physiological and psychological need for the drug independent of any medicinal value.
On to the good news
Cymbalta is a very fancy drug that acts on two neurotransmitters in the brain, it generally boosts mood, improves sleep and depresses the nervous system (lessening pain in patients with hyperactive nerves like in Fibro).
