I went to the doctor for the first time since I was a teenager (I'm 40). For years, the FM was mostly speculation backed up by having nearly every symptom on the list. However, I recently went to the doctor (finally) and was diagnosed with FM - well, the dr. didn't say "you have fibromyalgia," but she put me on Cymbalta, 30mg for treatment, so I'm assuming she was in agreement that I have FM. ...
About 10 to 15 years ago, I tried minocin and the FMS pain and symptoms melted away.
Make sure it is NOT generic of minocin. I tried 5 different brands of the generic and 4 of them did nothing and one was ok but not as good as non generic. I think there is a quality control problem.

I'm lucky to live in the Boston area where we have great doctors and world-class hospitals. In April one of the top docs in Fibromyalgia research and treatment, Dr. Don L. Goldenberg, is holding a symposium in conjunction with the New England Arthritis Foundation. I'm attending the symposium and I will report on the day's events in my blog: http://confessionsfromthefibrofog.blogspot.com/
Apart from hip/sacro-iliac pain, I have a symptom (well, I think its a fibromyalgia symptom) of cold buttocks - even in hot weather I often have to use hot packs on my buttocks and lower back, and especially at night just to get enough relief to sleep.
Anyone else have this symptom, or am I just weird?
I have been on Cymbalta for over a year now and the pain is well managed. My major problem right now is the fatigue!! My sleep at night is sketchy, with waking several times, sometimes for an hour, but during the day all I want to do is sleep. I drag myself through the basics of the daily routine that I have to get done and then as soon as I can lie down I'll ...
Hi my name is Rita, I'm twenty two years old. I've been living with chronic wide-spread pain and fatigue for 6 years now. My doctors suspect it's Fibromyalgia. I wrote the following in my journal two years ago. I was in a horrible state. I didn't leave my bed for months. When I write, it somehow helps with my pain, hope it helps at least one person out there.

My Aunt had lupus, my other Aunt Fibro, my mother has MS (as well as a host of other issues). Recently diagosed with CF and Fibro. Just wondering if any of you out there have similar genetic makeups?
Sometimes I wonder how the heck my ancestory made it through Survival of The Fittest (Scot Background).
