Hey everyone,
I just wanted to say that ive learned alot from everyone. this really helps
anyways... i wanted to know what are the typical ways you guys use to keep you pain manageable. I take Nsaid's like ibuprofen and aleve, They seem to help sometimes. I sit in a hot bath alot and that seems to help. sometime i get really bad headaches, im assuming that they can be caused by the tightening of muscles in the back of my shoulders and neck

But anyways.. if you have any other good ideas to manage pain i woulnt mind hearing them
thanks
gina

When i have bad pains i take up to 2400 mg of ibuprofen a day. I haven't had a bad flare up since a bad surgery a couple of years ago so i don't know what i would take if my tylenol and my ibuprofen stopped working. Omg, and yes! Hot baths! they are life servers. Whenever i put up with physical therapy they always tried to stick the ice to me but it hurt so much. Put a steaming scalding hot towel on me any day!

i totally agree with the hot baths thing, but i live in a college dorm and oftentimes baths are not available. ive found that yoga along with intense breathing exercises really helps. the breathing and relaxation techniques really help relax my muscles and also put my mind into a positve place where i am more able to deal with the pain. yoga is the only thing that i can tell that completely gets rid of chronic pain.

good luck!

hmmm, yoga. What type of training do you need for that?

no training, just go to a class. if the instructor is good, tell him or her that you have fibromyalgia. most yoga instructors know of it and are sensitive to your pain. they will tell you to take it easy and only do what you can do.

good luck!
