Immunovir (import from Canada) - Not sold in US

Postby Jackiemature » Sun Dec 06, 2009 2:51 pm

HI
Wondering if anyone is using Immunovir to enhance their immune system to fight viral infections. This drug is not currently sold in the US but it can be imported for personal use if prescribed by your physician. You take it on a schedule of 1 tablet twice per day for one 5 day period (typically Mon-Fri). Then you're off on the weekend and the following week. Then you start another round the 3rd week (typically on Mon) 4 or 6 tables 2,3, or 4 times per day. When you finish on Friday, you're off for a week and start again until you finish another round of 4 or 6 tablets. Then you're off it for a month.

Anyway, I find on the Saturday I stop taking the medication, I'm almost bedridden with fatigue. I can't sleep but my body is too tired to pretty much move. Does anyone else have this same problem?

Thank you!

Hi jackie,
ive never taken it but i was wondering if you were taking it for XMRV?
or did your dr. give it to you as a general treatment for CFS to boost the immune system.
I was just reading about immune modulators like transfer factor and saw that Immunovir worked in a similar way.

Is it helping at all? other than the fatigue when you stop taking it

I'm not taking it specifically for the XVMR virus but my doctor said it may help fight that one and other viruses we haven't tested for. She preferred this over Famvir or Valtrex because of the lesser side effects and the cost factor. She's also had really good luck with it. I'll be talking to her next week so the fatigue is one question I'll be asking her. As for helping me, I don't really know. I just finished my first course and now I'm off it for a month. The doctor said she wasn't sure if I'd have to take it the rest of my life or for a year or maybe just 4 months. It's different with everyone. And some folks don't respond to it at all. I'm worried that might be the case with me. I get EBV flair ups really bad during the spring/summer months. I'm hoping this will help.

Hi - reposting with update on Imunovir. Typically I would get flare-ups starting the beginning of March but this year they didn't happen until May and the flare ups aren't as bad nor have they lasted as long as they have in the past. Considering this medication is inexpensive compared to other options out there right now, I am very happy with the results up to this point.

Hi, I have been on Immunovir for the last 3 weeks. I have a laundry list of viruses including: HSI, HSII, CMV, CFS, FM, Viral Encephalitis, HV, Costochondritis, and more. I have been on Valcyte for around 6 months and every now and then I feel a hint of normalcy. The Immunovir is part of the reparation of my immune system (Killer cells not killing. etc.) I have regular side effects of diarrhea, headaches and insomnia. I could not tolerate the prescribed dose of 3 tabs a day so my doctor cut me back to 1 tab a day and now I am at 1/2 tab a day. Apparently it can take some time for the body to get used to the medication. I still have the same symptoms even on the 1/2 pill a day. They just are not as extreme. I still get outbreaks of the herpes virus (how is this possible?). My doctor says it could take up to 3 years to get my immune system back on board and in charge as the viruses have been in charge for much longer than that. She is confident that Immunovir will absolutely help me. I am putting my faith in her as no one else in my local medical community would even touch my case. I was labeled as incurable. So, if anyone sees parts of themselves in this email, my doctor is world renowned. Her name is Nancy Klimas and she is in Miami, Florida. Her number is 302-595-4300. I wish everyone who is going through similar health trials the wellness we all desire. Kathleen
