a perscription drug that helps me with pain is neurontin. I know there's a newer version of this drug called Lyrica. Its a metabolite of neurontin and supposedly has less side effects, although there really aren't many with neurontin

Hi there,
I suffer from FM and have mild ankylosing spondiltis in my upper back but i manage quite well. I'm in my 70th year and do reular workouts 3 times a week at Curves. I find that MSM(not glucosamine or chondroiton) taken with meals 3 times a day reduces the inflammation. It takes a while to kick in so you have to be patient. Also, you must do regular exercise. Nothing extreme but pay attention to your body's signals and your energy level will improve along with your outlook on life. Stretching exercises, done gently and never to the point of real pain, can make a real difference in how you feel. Don't give up as patience is the key. I find that I am now more fit than some women half my age but it's only because I got fed up with continual pain and the depression it caused. So go for it! You can do it! Smile

I was given amitriptyline to reduce my migraines, but it did help with my pain. I'm 28 and male so I was stocked to hear two weeks ago that I had fibromyalgia and a fatty liver. I'm not as active as a was 10 years ago, but that is when the pain started. Hence the lower activity. This is my fourth year at a two college (fulltime) in an automotive department. I wasn't able to make it to classes do to sickness, hence the fourth year. I'm starting to think the sickness are fibromyaliga related. Any tips or ideas for me?
