MSM, or methyl-sulfony-methane, is an organic sulfur that is naturally produced in the body. MSM is what ensures the proper functioning of the processes in your body such as the growing of healthy skin, nails and hair. When used in higher levels such as what you find in supplements it can treat a variety of ailments such as allergies, asthma, parasites, arthritis, cramps, muscle soreness and digestive disorders. It can also be used for diabetes and mood disorders in some cases. MSM can come from nature or from foods. In nature it is found with plankton which releases a certain gas that transforms into sulfur through the ocean water. It rises as a gas and then dissolves in the form of moisture in the atmosphere and return as rain or snow. It then enters the roots of plants through the soil and is bound to carbon to make it absorbable for humans. It can be found in meat, eggs, chicken, fish, and milk as well as some grains, fruits, vegetables and legumes. Onion and garlic are the main carriers of MSM as are asparagus, and other cruciferous vegetables. The reasons are bodies are lacking in MSM is because there is a serious mineral depletion in the soil which means that we are not getting as much to begin with and then we also lose some in the preparation of food. Most people do not have enough to reap the benefits of this important compound. We need MSM in every cell of the body to produce healthy benefits such as anti-inflammatory agents, to reduce acidity in the body, to treat gastrointestinal disorders, and to increase circulation in the body. It also can be used to prevent lupus, breast cancer, colon cancer, and diabetes. For a treatment it can work effectively on allergies, asthma and arthritis to substantially help with overall function.
