Known as Brazilian Pawpaw, Graviola is an evergreen tree that can be found in the tropical areas of South and North America. It is actually a heart shaped fruit that along with the roots, leaves and stems has been used in herbal medicine for many years. Graviola plants were first studied in the 1940’s when they were found to have anti-microbial, anti-tumorous, and anti-parasitic properties. The compound that is most active in the graviola plant is the annonaceous acetogenins compound which is said to provide most of the health benefits for body.
Graviola has been proven to help support healthy cell function as well as the ability to treat bacterial and fungal infections. It can help balance out pressure levels and can even provide support for emotional health. It was in the late 1970’s that graviola was studied for the medicinal compounds for the treatment of cancer as well as other more serious conditions. They have been studied extensively in the years since then and have been proven to help treat internal parasites as well as depression, stress and nervous disorders although no clear cancer properties have found it to be a treatment quite yet for cancer. However, there are herbalist practitioners that swear by it as a treatment for cancer and have conducted limited studies that have shown great success, particularly for colon cancer, but again, no studies are conclusive in this fact.
However, what they do know is that it can be used as a preventative use in cell growth and function to keep you healthier overall. It has been proven to your maintain intestinal environment, maintain the body’s overall defense system, and it has been proven to support the body in healing itself. It can elevate your mood and increase the quality of life by taking away muscle and joint pain and enhancing the immune system.
