Additional Supplements for Heavy Metal Detox

ve written about the Detoxamine supposatories and Metal-free spray for Heavy Metal Detox. But there are some other supplements that you can add if you dont have alot of money or want to speed up and do a more thorough detox.Garlic or the MSM supplements can enhance your sulfur stores. One of the way mercury (and other toxins) are removed from your body is through a process called sulfation. If your body is exposed to toxiins that are detoxified through your sulfation pathway, you will need MSM or Garlic to help replenish these reserves.
Cilanto is an inexpensive way to help out with your heavy metal detox. It helps to bring the metals out of your tissues so your body can excrete them.
Also an amino acid called l-methionine supports methylation and can help detoxify heavy metals. I personally take this everyday. It really seems to clear my head and also is supposed to improve your mood.

Another one that really is good for detox is chlorrella. This is pretty expensive, but this one actually makes me feel better. You have to make sure you get “broken cell wall” chlorella or it wont work as well. The Chlorella that my doctor recommened is called sun chorella, she said that it is the most expensive, but also the only on worth taking.

    Navid,

I also was under great stress and had chemical exposures working in an office that was being renovated and got many of the symptoms you list.

I can only offer my experience in helping some of those symptoms.

MCS – of course avoidance. But I found I improved a lot over time when I used a N-95 rated respirator that you can get at Home Depot or related store – and went outside and made myself sweat profusely. I happen to break a sweat easily and for me it was tugging on the waterhose to water the plants – and/or sweep the patio. Vitamin C!

Sinus Infection – Nasal lavaging/rinsing 2 times a day with salt water buffered with a tiny amount of baking soda. 4 times when it really acts up. My allergist suggested adding a tiny dab of Bactricin antibiotic cream to the water. Bactricin is very very expensive here (Miami). Almost $100 for tube. Since I’ve been nasal lavaging (just the salt water/baking soda) I no longer get sinus infections.

I find this product works wonders for migraines and CFS headaches. Fairly cheap at under $5 for box of 48 homepathic pills. Source Naturals’ “Migraine Blocker”. I take homeopathics a lot more often than they prescribe – like 2 pills every 10-20 minutes until it subsides and clears up.

Muscle aches and pains – a tricky one with assorted “treatments” In the beginning I found using this type of sedating anti-histimine eased the muscle pains: Chlorpheniramine Maleate (1 or 2) and not Benydryl.

(I read about this from a CFS patient in one of the CFIDS Chronicals in the 1990’s)

Guaifenesin (Mucinex, Robitussen) can help a lot too. It’s a mucus thinner they use for colds/chest congestion.

I also found that any form of calcium, no matter how small – like a pill filler – or broccoli triggered muscle spasms. It took a week to clear the calcium from my body and I found taking potassium every couple hours eased the muscle spams. I’m not so sensitive as I had been. Don’t know if this is the case for you or not.

I also had hair loss on head and lashes. Head hair comes back some after you heal a bit – which I hope happens for you.

    Crazy illness, crazy remedies.

    Hope you get better.

    Navid,

I’m almost certain that you developed MCS (multiple Chemical Sensitivities) and/or Environmental Illness from your exposure to various chemicals and toxins from your employment situation…or maybe you already had this condition at a subclinical level and the toxic exposures pushed you into a fullblown disorder.

I’ve had the same problems for decades, so I know how difficult these are to treat. Check out various forms of detox programs. A good and simple and inexpensive one to begin with is found in Dr. Bruce Fife’s book “The Detox Book” which can be purchased at Amazon

But, many of the symptoms that you describe may be related to a throid condition that could have been caused by chemical and toxic exposure. Toxicity often affects the throid in negative ways. I highly recommend that you have a complete workup for thyroid dysfunction (usually HYPOthroidism under these circumstances.)
