There has been much debate as to whether devices that generate electromagnetic fields can affect the human body. Computers, televisions, cell phones and all other electronic devices give off an electromagnetic field. Studies have shown that these electromagnetic fields can affect human metabolism, hormonal systems, cause DNA damage, and generate free-radicals. But do they generate effects that are strong enough to cause us health problems, such as cancer, diabetes, or auto-immune illnesses? Can an 8 hour day in front of the computer affect your health?
Computer monitors are well known to emit electromagnetic fields. They emit low-frequency magnetic fields of around 60-Hz. They are believed to present a greater exposure risk than a televsison because users sit much closer to their screens. Also, the commonly held belief that LCD computer monitors emit less EMF radiation than other types of monitors, is not completely true. LCD monitors require less power to run, but LCDs can emit high levels of electric fields. Backlit LCD displays can emit high levels of electric and magnetic fields. Although its questionable that the amount of magnetic and electric fields emitted by a computer monitor could pose a health risk. There is solid proof that exposure to higher levels of these fields, such as living near power lines, can cause major health risks.
Higher level EMF exposure can cause many types of cancer such as, leukemia, breast cancer and brain cancer. There is even some evidence that it may cause miscarriages and even suicides. One mechanism that electromagnetic fields could damage our health is by generating excess amount of ozone in the air we breath. Ozone generates free-radicals and is very caustic. It is good at keeping radiation out of our atmosphere, but it is very toxic when we breathe it into our bodies.
In 2002 the California Department of Health Science concluded that “EMF represents a significant health risk”. The only thing that is not well known is if the EMF’s emitted from computer monitors, televisions, microwaves and cellphones are at a high enough level to cause a significant risk of illness.

Please allow me to point out that “Hz” or Hertz is actually the term for the Frequency, or oscillations in cycles per second, of Alternating Current elecricity. This is commonly 60 Hz in US local power supply and electric current flow.
A “magnetic field” is a vector force exerted on a moving electric charge that is measured in either Gauss or Tesla. Its quantum depends on several factors including velocity.
But let’s not get too technical.
When it comes to the effect on human beings, it is being realised that there is more to it than just the strength of these fields.
Studies show that there is a “biological” effect on human bioelectrical energy from exposure to electric and magnetic fields and transmitted radiation signals. A cumulative effect has also been reported. Unfortunately this is being missed with attention frequently only being given to merely a “thermal” effect.
The human system is sensitive to energy. Whether you notice it or not is another matter. Some do, some don’t. But all our millions of atoms are actually bound together by a fundamental electromagnetic force. Other EMF fields and forces have a “destructive influence”.
If your biofield is compromised by EMFs, so is every energy system in your body, including your immune system. There just isn’t the capability there would otherwise be and any adverse health effect is more able to occur. What will occur, and over what period of time, is as yet unknown. For some it will be much quicker than others. It’s all a bit of an experiment with increased EMF exposure in our modern day.
In an increasingly electropolluted world, you shouldn’t take the risk. There is a great need to protect your bioenergy. Fortunately this can now be done.
There really is no doubt anymore about the health effects from EMFs. Computers are among the worst offenders, especially laptops, but cell phones are going to create an epidemic of brain tumors in the next 5-10 years, according to Dr. George Carlo, the scientist who ran the original studies for the industry from 1993-99.
It’s a bit like smoking, fluoride, lead, DDT, agent otange, thalidomide and so on, there are still some who refuse to allow that there are health problems. However, we can certainly be grateful to Dr Carlo for being a “whistle blower” on this issue.
It is a serious matter that so-called “safety” guidelines for human exposure to EMF radiation are very much out of date. They focus largely on a “thermal” effect, and ignore “biological” effects that contemporary research is showing up more and more. They don’t provide safety with the increasing exposure to EMFs in our modern technological world. And they’re based on short term exposures so problems from a cumulative effect, that some recent research has shown up, have never been taken into account.
There is a legitimate concern for younger people who will be exposed to more and more EMF throughout their lifetimes. Even now it is many times more than in our grandparent’s day; they never put cellphones next to their brains, sat close to screens for hours, had electronic devices on their laps or wires across their chests.
Devices, such as cellphones and cordless phones, that emit a pulsed radiation signal at frequencies equivalent to that used by microwaves, and do this every few milliseconds once switched on, impose a stress on the much more subtle human bioenergy.
But it doesn’t one device to be labelled worse than another. All alternating current electric and magnetic fields, along with pulsed microwave radiation, have a “destructive influence” effect. The depletion of human bioenergy is measurable – examples are shown on the Bioenergy section of my website
The effect occurs at an atomic level, as fundamental physics reveals and I have explained on my website. And if your bioenergy level is depleted, no body energy system can function as well as it would without such effect, including your immune system. Fortunately such depletion of bioenergy can now be reversed with a remarkable new protection technology now available, as charted measurements also show.
I think I might might be adversely affected by spending time on my computer. I have neurological symptoms that are baffling doctors. I have been tested at least once for every neurological illness humans get. Every test proves that I am a completely healthy 53 year-old-woman. Yet, I have very strange symptoms which include a very strong electrical current running through the left side of my body, numbing my left arm and hand. The electrical current runs downward into my left foot causing anywhere from light discomfort to intense pain. At times the current is so strong I feel like I am having some type of seizure. When I am like this, my scalp gets tight or numb or intensely itchy. My brain seems to slow down, and the inside of my body shakes violently. Yet, when I look in a mirror, I am not shaking at all. During these episodes, I am not afraid nor do I experience emotional anxiety. My body is under great anxiety and stress though. These periods last anywhere from 1 hour to 3. I lay down if I can to let it pass. When I think back to when this started, it coincides to when I started using my computer for email etc. I find now that I am on it several hours every day. So, I googled the effect of computers on human health, and this site came up. Is there anyone out there who can help? Are any of you doctors who have patients with similar symptoms? Please reply to me. I will print out what you have to say so that I can show my doctor. Thank you, annscotto@verizon.net
