So far there are no drugs approved by the FDA specifically for treatment of Fibromyalgia. Right now the drug Lyrica (aka Pregabalin) is under review by the FDA for the treatment of Fibromyalgia. Lyrica is classified as an anti-convulsant and is currently used for siezure disorders and the treatment of neuropathic pain. While many doctors already perscribe Lyrica for pain associated with fibromyalgia, there werent clinical trials that proved its effectiveness in FMS patients, until recently. Lyrica has a completely different mechanism of action, than antidepressant drugs and painkillers that are usually the first choice for treatment of pain disorders.
The are also FMs drugs in the pipeline for FDA approval. These are Cymbalta and Milnacipran. They are two newer antidepressants which are believed to help with fibrmyalgia pain

I live in SPain, and have FM/CFS. I’ve been taking Lyrica (150-150-150) since 2005 – for me it was just amazing. I feel like “cured”
Before I was on morfine and other drugs.
Greetings

Lyrica has given me a new lease on life. Not only in pain relief, but attitude as well. You might call me cheerfull even noe.
I stared taking Lyrica one month ago and I have found this medication to be remarkable. My Fibromyalgia and pain in my hands, knees, and back have almost gone away. I still have pain in two fingers, but hopefully that too will go away. I find Lyrica to be a fantastic medicaton!!!! Thank goodness because I was becoming a very BIG COUCH POTATO, now I am always on the go.
what is the cost per bottle of lyrica?
My wife has suffered from fybro for the last 3 years but we have worked very hard together to try to make things better, from massages to regular medication. She recently under went some acupuncture treatment which has helped her allot, I was very sceptical at first but after a few days she said that she actually felt much better, to my surprise. I suppose you don’t know until you try. Still just thought i would say hi, my wife does not like me talking about it to others much she is a very quite person, so don’t tell her i am here
Oh and does Lyrica really work? and does anyone know of any side affects to this drug
I was taking 150mg of Lyrica 3 times daily and the pain did subside considerably. Unfortunately, I had to stop taking it because of serious weight gain. I gained 60lbs in 6 months. My physcian told me to stop taking the Lyrica and to speak to my Rheumatologist about another medication. I was definately feeling better but the weight issue was just out of control. I have stopped Lyrica and I am now in considerable pain but my appetite is almost nonexistent.
I am a diabite and I would like to know if I can take this medicine. I am taking Inlsun and Gultrol x10mg Two kinds of Insulin. Pluse my blood presure too,I take Plax, and asprin 81mg, Sular and Benicar 40/25. Will this medicine mix with
this .
Thank You Irma McGinnis

Can lyrica cause swelling of the eyes and splitting of the eyelids at the crease? My eyes have gotten puffy, and there are patches of rough skin on the lids. They split open and leak a clear fluid. Very unsightly and uncomfortable. I stopped taking it last night.
Now the pain in my feet is starting to come back.
Can you advise me?
im not a doctor, so all i can do is advise you to talk to your dr. about it. Those sound like some tough side effects, hopefully your dr. can point you in the right direction.
Isn’t Lyrica just a big drug company’s “upgrade” of a much less expensive medication known as gabapentin (brand name: Neurontin), which has been around for years? I’ve used gabapentin with great success for my FMS and other pain for almost 8 years now. It’s very inexpensive & doesn’t seem to have the weight-issue side effects so common with Lyrica.
