Genetic Testing For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Over at the Co-Cure message boards i came across some posts by Dr Rich Van Kronyenburg talking about Genetic Testing and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I had read other messages that he had posted and felt like he had a good sense of chronic fatigue and had alot of recommendations that helped me personally. He talked alot about glutathione deficiency being a major factor in chronic fatigue. I had been tested for this a while back and i had really low glutathione levels. I had been supplementing with NAC and it definately improved my brain fog and energy levels. He also had some good posts about the methylation cycle and how it applied to symptoms in chronic fatigue patients. I had already been taking l-methionine supplements for another reason and i found that helped my brain fog alot. I really had no idea why they helped me, until i came across his posts about the methylation cycle block theory. Over the 7 years that i have been sick, i have taken just about every vitamin or supplement that is available. I found a few things that i knew really helped me, but i didnt understand why they helped. His posts about the methylation cycle block theory helped me figure out why vitamins like folic acid, l-methionine, NAC, and Betain really cleared my head and made me feel alot better. One of his more recent posts and this article here got me thinking about the genetic of the methylation cycle. He talked about genetic testing that Dr Amy Yasko has been doing for the treatment of kids with autism and how it applied to people with chronic fatigue.

The Genetic testing that Dr. Amy Yasko is doing maps out the methylation cycle and certain other metabolic cycles and shows what genetic predispositions might be leading to chronic fatigue. I read more about Dr Yasko and was impressed by the testing they were doing. Things that had been reading about, like cycles that can affect nitric oxide levels in the body, were covered in these genetic tests. I didn’t really have anything else i could try so i went ahead and got the test.

First of all the test is very expensive. It is $700 for the test and $400 additional dollars to get the doctors analysis and recommendation of supplements that will help with any abnormalities that are found. I was going to order the test by itself and see if i could figure it out, but the more reading i did the more confused i got. So, i ordered the analysis too. I did the test and mailed it back about 5 1/2 weeks ago. It will take 6-8 weeks to get the results.
Im not really expecting alot to be honest, because ive been excited by new treatments too many times before. But its definately worth a shot. When i get the results i will be posting updates. That should be in the next 2 weeks.
