Sulfur Metabolism

There is no shortage of theories about CFS. Doctors like Amy Yasko and Rich Van Konyenberg, believe that chronic fatigue patients may have defects in their methylation cycle. Six months ago i had a genetic test done to see how my methylation cycle was functioning.
My test results showed that i had a defect in sulfur metabolism. The gene SUOX S370S was +/-. I believe this means that my body converts sulfites into sulfates very quickly. And it may lead to a buildup of sulfates which are removed from the body by B12 and molybdenum.

This can lead to lower levels of B12 and molybdenm as the body has to use them up to remove the sulfates. I have always had low levels of molybdemun on lab tests, and this fits with these results.

For this version of SUOX gene the most important supplements are B12, adequate molybdenum, boron and magnanese. These are used by the body to get rid of the sulfates. High levels of sulfur in the system may have a negative impact on regeneration of ATP as well as NADH. So it might also be important to supplement with NADH and D-Ribose to support ATP levels.

The rest of my genetic results are here and the interperetation by Dr. Rich Van Konyenburg are here. The results are difficult to understand. If you have them done make sure and get them interpreted, so you fully understand your results.
