Vitamin D deficiency is believed to be involved in many types of diseases including osteoporosis, rickets, diabetes, and high blood pressure. It has been common knowledge for years that vitamin D supplementation can help treat certain diseases and is overall benefical to one’s health.
But, one doctor is questioning that idea.
An Australian doctor named Trevor Marshall believes that vitamin D intake may lower the immune system’s ability to fight infection.
Dr. Marshall states that “Vitamin D is a secosteroid hormone“, and the body creates it as needed. Ingesting supplemental vitamin D may be harmful (by this theory) because it isn’t the same form as created by the body. It may suppress the immune system and alter the regulation of genes in a negative way. He believes that vitamin D may have a negative influence on the disease process in chronic fatigue and sarcoidosis.
This is a very controversial idea, but there are many patients on marshallprotocol.com that swear by it.
Vitamin D interacts with the body through the VDR receptor. Dr. Marshall believes that ingested forms of vitamin D may actually block this receptor and have the opposite effect that we want. This is the contrary to vitamin D created by sunlight.
His research shows the ingested form of vitamin D that metabolizes into 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, can suppress proper immune system fuctioning and cause delays in recovery from chronic disease.
*Note – This is an interesting theory, it is also very controversial. So if you have questions about it be sure to consult with your doctor.

only he could understand the fact and the rest of scientist couldnt .. does this sound logical ?
I noticed you didn’t post any information on Dr. Martin Lerner in this website. I think a section about his ground breaking research for over 30 years, and having suffered from CFS himself, would be a good addition to this website. The videos on his website provide evidence that CFS (not in all), but MANY patients is attributed to a viral component, and once you put this viral component into a sub-latent state the CFS symptoms subside dramatically.
The marshall protocol is nonsense. Just because some people swear by it, doesn’t mean it is supported by any legitimate science. The studies the protocol relies on are taken HORRIBLY out of context.
People believe all sorts of crazy things about health.
Judson, have you read the marshall protocol? If you have you would know there is an actual science behind it. You would know that for some it really worked. These people went from disabled to fully functional.
The science behind it is very solid in theory. There are even studies currently being done that back up Marhsall’s theory.
You say it isnt backed up by legitimate science, but what are you even saying? Have you read the work by Amy Proal, or Trevor Marshall?
The only thing lacking in their studies is a double blind study.
Clearly the marshall protocol is not nonsense. It works for some and doesnt for others. Dont dismiss it based on your ignorance.
